Negative space is highlighted in this piece, creating an evocative relationship between the poured color and stark white. I created this painting with multiple raw and controlled pours of acrylic paint on canvas to achieve layered depth and interest. The piece may be hung either horizontally or vertically.

About the Artist
From childhood on, Dorothy was always eager about painting. Her grandfather encouraged her to graduate from a finger-painting enthusiast to a more mature and serious artist. Dorothy’s approach to her abstract artwork entails pouring paint in transparent layers to create sweeping colors across the canvas. Regardless, she manages to stay true to her childhood roots: “To this day, my clothes and hands always reflect the colors I am working with,” says Dorothy. “And I once again rediscovered the joys of finger-painting with my children!”
