About the Item
La Vérité forms part of my ongoing series of work called I'm Still Here. It's an abstract-expressive painting of how I feel about an important person in my life. In the creative process, I think about how I feel about this person, the places I associate with this person, the things we have said to each other and the things that we have done together. In this painting I have written a few things on the canvas and the word 'truth'. I confided a lot about myself to this person in an effort to create a closer relationship, although the truth I told them actually led to the ending of the relationship, hence why I have used red and orange to represent something being destroyed in flames. I decided to put the title in French, as a link to my time in France and a link to my studies of the French language.
