Pure adrenaline! Polo is the fastest team sport in the world and has no parallel in excitement and a rush of blood to the head and to the heart. To the untrained eye, polo looks like a blend of hockey and golf played by people on horseback. What other competitive team sport requires you to hit a ball, maneuver your way through a cluster of thundering hooves, all while riding full-out on the back of a powerful horse? Polo was named the sport of kings because it was only royals and their courtiers who played it in ancient Iran where it started. Over the years, the British popularized it worldwide and then Argentineans mastered its game. Sotogrande, a luxury hideaway on the Southern coast of Spain, an easy drive from Marbella and Gibraltar. Sotogrande is a secret epicenter of polo and home to historic and the most exclusive polo clubs. In the heart of Sotogrande there are over 20 polo fields, just minutes from the beaches and some of the best equine facilities in the world. With this painting I want to share my admiration for this amazing sport and the magnificent animals.
