Elisabetta Maestro was born in 1956 in a small village in Piedmont, Italy. She made art avidly as a child as a way to escape from her unhappy childhood. Maestro later went into a very long period in which she did not create anything. Maestro’s son suffers from psychological problems and acute anorexia, and as a way to cope with these severe difficulties, and at the prompting of her very good friend Vera Girivi, Maestro began to paint again several years ago. She kept her work entirely private, but at the urging of Girivi, began to post on Instagram. She felt consoled by those around the worldthat like her work. Maestro’s paintings of nudes and forests are entirely from her imagination. She paints on a table in her home. Her forest scenes are born from the search for familiarity in the larger world. Naturally shy and reserved, Maestro feels her painting is her way to express herself and communicate her imagination and her dreams to the world.
