About the Item

Untitled Tati is a unique contemporary modern painting by renowned Polish-Dutch artist Eliza Kopec. The painting is a typical example of her preferred minimalist abstract geometric vocabulary. Using a multitude of circular, square and rectangular elements - black and white as well as a wide range of colours - the artist has created a randomly composed image evoking a sense of organized chaos or chaotic structure. Due to the multi-layer built up work, it also suggests an almost threedimensional experience through the perceived depth in this work. The painting has been finished with multi layers of a special coating that completely seals the paper elements and creates a totally smooth surface. The canvas is deliberately not framed, giving a pure and somewhat raw effect feel to this work. Eliza Kopec (1960, Poland) graduated with a BA in graphic art and drawing from the (today) Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. After her graduation she started working as an independent visual artist and initially made many limited edition prints for numerous Dutch magazines. At the turn of the century she became more and more focussed on making abstract reliefs and paintings based on regularity and geometry. She works with different forms and sizes: she paints on canvas, makes installations with paper and creates paper reliefs. Sometimes monochrome, just white or black, making the repetition and shapes in a work even more apparent. At the same time she also creates bright multi-coloured work. Her work is often built up from basic geometric shapes such as lines, squares and circles and translates rhythm, texts and number series into abstract images, for instance represented by a defined range of colours. Starting point for many of her works are often concrete subjects like poems, newspaper articles or arithmetic principles. By translating these concrete subjects into shapes or colours she aims to create universal images of beauty. Her work has been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows at galleries, art fairs, art circles and museums throughout Europe, including Pulchri Studio, Ars Aemula Naturae, KunstRAI and the COBRA museum. Private and public collections including work by Eliza are among others the Yellow Fellow Foundation (collection Verhoeven), Royal KPN, Royal PostNL, Cosmopolitan Hotel Las Vegas and Museum Het Valkhof. In 2018 a monograph was published covering many examples of her paintings, reliefs, drawings and mixed media works.

Turn - Large Colorful Abstract Geometric Painting
By Petra Rös-Nickel
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Petra Rös-Nickel’s original paintings merge playful forms, bright colors, and architectural compositions in oil and mixed media on canvas. Her contemporary artworks contain rich textures and patterns, referencing popular European textile designs of the fifties and sixties. Rös-Nickel’s work translates the geometric and organic elements of an era that hoisted the flags of modernism and which, due to a trend to return to a rather retro style, has become topical once more. This 43-inch high by 63-inch wide contemporary oil painting is ready to hang. This artwork is double wired and may be installed vertically or horizontally. The sides of this artwork are painted and it does not require framing. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Petra was born 1963 in Wathlingen near Celle, Germany, and breaks completely new ground with her abstract forms of painting and expression. After studying fashion design at the professional school for clothing in Bremen, 1980, Petra Rös-Nickel changed her field of study to architecture in Eckernförde, 1982. She now lives in Hamburg, Germany. Preferring the creative aspects of the studies to the technical ones, the artist developed the basics of her painting, never denying the roots of applied design and soon ending in a refreshing, distinctive style. Petra Rös-Nickel experiments with form, along with the use of a technique that draws attention to the processes used in creating a painting. Essential is the color space presented in multiple layers that offers the beholder access to more profound color planes. These details, scratchings, and rubbings lead to various elements of tension, such as “patchwork” or harmonious-contemplative forms (“windows”) and “oscillating lines”. Rös-Nickel's modernist paintings develop an energetic impact on the space they‘re displayed in, conveying her joy of life and self-confidence. Her abstract geometric textured artworks have been exhibited and collected worldwide, including Germany, Belgium, USA, Canada, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Notable collectors include Chris Rock...
