About the Item

Title: 1960's British Surrealist Oil Painting - 'Beginnings' Abstract Artist: Elvic Steele Medium: Oil on board, unframed Size: 4.5 height x 6 width Condition: Good Provenance: all the paintings we have by this artist have come from the artists estate Description: An evocative and intricate original oil painting by Elvic Steele, titled ‘Beginnings’. This composition features a mesmerizing array of circular forms layered against a dark, textured background. Each form is rendered with meticulous detail, resembling organic cross-sections or abstract seeds, symbolizing the concept of origins and new life. Shades of yellow, green, and soft blue dominate the inner circles, with delicate black tree-like shapes emerging at their centers, adding depth and intrigue. These are surrounded by layers of earthy browns, oranges, and purples that radiate outward, evoking the natural cycles of growth and transformation. Steele’s masterful use of color and texture creates a sense of movement and life within the piece, while the contrast between light and dark reflects the themes of creation and renewal. Ideal for collectors of surrealist or abstract art, ‘Beginnings’ offers a rich and thought-provoking focal point for modern or eclectic interiors.
