About the Item
This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
Fiona Debell's "Perilous Rejection" is a compelling abstract minimalism piece that captures the viewer's imagination with its layered composition and subtle complexity. Set against a soft white background, which only peeks through in the top right corner, the painting features a series of curving shapes that interplay to create a visually engaging scene.
The first layer consists of a large dark circle that almost spans the entire canvas, establishing a strong and dominant presence. This dark circle is partially concealed by two large circles emerging from the top and bottom edges of the canvas, rendered in a deep green tone that is both warm and inviting. The juxtaposition of these shapes creates a dynamic tension and movement within the composition.
At the intersection where the green shapes meet and overlap, a vibrant red tone emerges, serving as an intriguing focal point. This unexpected burst of color adds depth and interest, drawing the viewer's eye and inviting contemplation on the interplay of these elements.
The concept behind "Perilous Rejection" delves into themes of concealment, emergence, and transformation. The dark circle, almost entirely hidden, symbolizes aspects of the self or experiences that are often obscured or rejected. The warm green shapes represent the inviting yet complex layers that interact with these hidden aspects, and the red focal point signifies moments of revelation and acceptance that arise from this interaction.
"Perilous Rejection" is a testament to Fiona Debell's ability to convey profound themes through minimalist abstraction. The painting's clean lines and thoughtful layering make it a versatile piece, perfect for various environments that appreciate the subtleties of abstract art. This remarkable work is available for purchase online and at the Signet Contemporary Art Gallery in Chelsea, offering an exquisite addition to any collection that values the beauty of minimalism and the depth of abstract expression.

“As an emerging artist, I have established a niche with my large-scale, visually arresting, minimalist abstract works. Since 2018, I have been a dedicated, full-time artist.
My collection, "Reciprocity," reflects my belief in the interconnectedness of humanity. Each piece is a nuanced conversation about the inherent give-and-take in human relationships, exploring the tensions and dynamics of these interactions. This series breaks them down to their elemental forms, highlighting the intricate dance of life.
My art celebrates simplicity, finding complexity within minimalism. This approach creates an interplay of forms and colours that captivates and challenges, with large-scale pieces evoking a spectrum of emotions from introspection to liberation. Inspired by the Hard Edge movement of the 1960s, I explore bold shapes and colours, emphasizing purity of form. My work integrates post-painterly techniques, ensuring brushstrokes are imperceptible and each colour application becomes part of the narrative.
This signature approach ensures my art is visually striking and deeply immersive. Each composition, seemingly simple, is a complex construction with profound thematic depth. I am committed to technical precision and conceptual richness, striving to create art that resonates universally, transcending cultural and linguistic boundaries.
In essence, my art is a visual journey through life's complexities, embodying the invisible bonds that unite us. With a focus on technical mastery and conceptual depth, I aim to create pieces that communicate globally, connecting and captivating audiences with their underlying message.”- Fiona Debell

This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
Fiona Debell's "Being My Other Self" is a captivating abstract work that embodies the elegance of minimalism. The painting features three black shapes that float serenely across a soft white background. These shapes, distinct yet harmonious, hover near each other without touching, creating a sense of balance and quiet tension.
The stark contrast between the black forms and the white backdrop draws the viewer's attention, yet the soft, rounded edges of the shapes impart a feeling of tranquility and unity. This visual interplay invites viewers to explore the spaces between the forms, emphasizing the importance of both presence and absence in the composition.
The concept behind "Being My Other Self" revolves around themes of identity and connection. The black shapes symbolize individual aspects of the self, each unique yet part of a greater whole. Their separation suggests the different facets of one's personality, while their proximity hints at the potential for harmony and integration.
