Gabriele Mierzwa is a renowned artist born in Schwientochlowitz, Germany, in 1958. Her artistic journey began early, as she immersed herself in the study of art under the esteemed guidance of Prof. Henryk Dziecol from 1971 to 1978. A testament to her prodigious talent, at just fourteen years old, Mierzwa's artistry was recognized on an international stage when she secured the prestigious Golden Medal J. Nehru from UNICEF during an esteemed art contest in India.
Her dedication to honing her craft led her to pursue further studies at the Kattowitz Art School from 1973 to 1979, culminating in the attainment of a Ph.D. in art. Since 1985, Gabriele Mierzwa has established herself as an independent artist, finding her creative haven nestled within the inspiring landscapes of the Black Forest, Germany.
To change perceptions and create something new is what Mierzwa seeks to accomplish through her artwork. She assembles fragments of memory. The nudes arise from her daily observations and are stimulated by her fantasy. Gabriele Mierzwa has developed into a well-known artist within the international art scene. She has exhibited in Hamburg, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Offenburg, Lahr, Wuppertal, Schwetzingen, Bingen, Stuttgart, Köln, Germanisches National Museum Nürnberg, Olten, Basel, Zürich, London, Tokyo, Miami, Los Angeles, and New York.
