About the Item

“The Zodiac” Large Modern Italian Signed and Archived Painting by Giovanni Omiccioli Giovanni Omiccioli (1901-1975), a Roman painter belonging to the group of painters of the Roman School, produced Lo zodiaco (The Zodiac) around the 1940s, a large one-off work on octagonal cut paper, signed G. Omiccioli at lower left. In the central part of the painting, reflecting Omiccioli's interest in astrology and symbolism, all the signs of the zodiac are depicted on a blue background with a star or compass rose in the centre. On the edge of the work, Maestro Omiccioli's notes on the sequence of colours for the workers who would carry out the work are visible. The Omiccioli Archive and Authentic Foundation has archived the work. It measures 175 x175 cm with frame. The painting comes with a beautiful natural wood frame and is protected by glass on both sides This artwork, never before on the market, comes from an important private collection and is beautified by an impressive antique frame in gilded wood, in almost perfect condition.
