Grégoire Mathias
"Les Toits de Venise" by Grégoire Mathias – Cubist Oil and Acrylic Painting

About the Item

Les Toits de Venise (The Rooftops of Venice) 55 x 46 cm Oil and acrylic on canvas Les Toits de Venise is an exploration of Venice's rooftops through the artist’s Diachronic Cubism. This 55 x 46 cm oil and acrylic painting combines geometric abstraction and vibrant colors to evoke the charm and timelessness of the Venetian skyline. With a palette of golden ochres, rich blues, and soft greys, Mathias captures the interplay of light and shadow, reinterpreting the iconic rooftops into a fragmented yet harmonious composition. The deconstructed forms invite viewers to experience Venice from multiple perspectives, blending tradition with modernity. Perfect For: Collectors of cubist landscapes, enthusiasts of Venetian culture, and those seeking a dynamic yet elegant piece of modern art. Les Toits de Venise brings sophistication and a touch of Venice to any collection or interior space. Keywords: Diachronic Cubism, Greg Mathias, Venetian landscape painting, Italy, cubist acrylic and oil art, modern cubism, French contemporary artist, architectural abstraction. About the Artist: Grégoire Mathias, graduate of the National School of Fine Arts in Paris (ENSBA - École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts), is exhibiting his work at Sotheby's gallery in Périgueux, as well as in several galleries across Paris, New York, and Dublin. Mathias is the creator of diachronic cubism, an unexplored branch of cubism that depicts landscapes, interiors, everyday life scenes, and, most notably, the concept of time itself. This unique style is characterized by the deconstruction of subjects and light over specific periods of time. Since 2020, he has been designing UN posters through the World Federation for the United Nations Associations (WFUNA), becoming the first French artist to contribute to the organization after Picasso, Chagall, Miró, and Vasarely.
