The Neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, 2023
Enamel paint, oil & acrylic paint markers on canvas
24 x 36 in
This masterpiece beautifully encapsulates the unique street-naming culture of Buenos Aires. The intricate details in Bublik’s creation mirror the city’s maze of themed streets, where names weave a narrative through history, events, and famous figures. Navigating Buenos Aires can be a puzzle, much like this piece, reflecting the artist’s personal journey and connection to the city.
Guillermo Bublik:
Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, moved to the U.S.A. in 1982 to pursue a graduate degree in Physics. His interest in science was fueled by a fascination with the imagined futures portrayed in science fiction. Drawn to theories and equations, Bublik found beauty in the symmetrical arrangement of Maxwell's equations and Einstein's General Relativity. He is awed by human ingenuity and sees a deep connection between scientific and artistic creativity, emphasizing the search for patterns, form, structure, and beauty in the world.
After retiring from a technical career in 2018, Bublik turned to painting, considering it a logical continuation of his innate thirst for creativity. His abstract artwork explores the interplay of geometry and color, evoking diverse emotions in both himself and viewers. The subtle variations in size, shape, and color within his art generate distinct human reactions. Observers note a strong connection between Bublik's artistic expression and his background in science, highlighting the seamless integration of his love for both disciplines.

Guillermo Bublik is an Argentinian/American painter based in New Jersey. His works are easily recognizable by their bold combinations of colors and
abstract geometric forms. Commonly described as highly kinetic, they create
a strong illusion of motion, which he achieves by inserting asymmetric shapes
in unexpected places within repetitive patterns. He further adds a sense of
vertical movement by his use of warm and cool colors, together with a
gradual change in both the scale and the sharpness of his geometric forms.
