About the Item
Using the canvas as a base for his three dimensional exploration of colour Hamilton Aguiar focuses on a single shade to highlight the way texture and light play with the eye. His collection of Opticals are evolve through the day as natural light plays across them, shifting the focal point of the piece across its fluid surface. This piece, '21150 - Optical' uses as bold royal blue that transforms to lighter and darker shades depending on the viewer's perspective. The edges of the piece are finished giving the owner to option to frame it or not.
Aguiar's work has been featured in Architectural Digest and Home & Design Magazine in 2023.

Hamilton Aguiar
Hamilton Aguiar was born in Brazil in 1965 and moved to America at the age of 22. Now based out of Miami, Aguiar was initially drawn to another seaside area, the Hamptons. He spent a great deal of time there, opening a studio to observe and paint the landscape in what is now recognized as his own exceptionally unique style; a style that has attracted private and corporate collectors from all around the world. His crisp imagery of natural elements placed within smooth gradations of colour beneath a burnished resin coating is unlike any landscape or seascape previously explored. While his work is clearly inspired by natural beauty, there exists a transcendent quality in his pieces that cannot be imitated. Aguiar has participated in numerous solo and group shows throughout his thirty year career, having shown his work in galleries in Germany, Korea, Sweden, Canada, and Singapore.

Recycled industrial press ink lends Latour's work a saturation of colour and textural detail that is unique to the medium. Through careful manipulation he is able to craft paintings that have intricate coral-like surfaces. 'Winter in the City II' is the second of a pair of pieces that evoke the bustle of a city with the whiteout of a winter's day. This piece evokes David Milne's style of using white space to represent the season while Latour's signature colour saturation comes across in the bold orange and green accents through the piece.
