Ilze Avotina (1952)
"Painting for me as dedication myself for a higher authority, that is, how a man loves a woman, as a mother loves a child, as a flower blossoms in a garden, you just need to succumb."
The artist was born in 1952. She graduated Riga Art School by Janis Rosenthal (1962-1970), Art Academy of Latvia the painting department headed by I. Zarin (1973-1979)
Participated in exhibitions since 1978. Since 1980, Member of the The Artists' Union of Latvia and member of the association "B-13" (1993 - 1998).
Has organized many personal exhibitions in Latvia. Participated in group exhibitions in Riga, Moscow, Vilnius, Italy, Spain, Cuba, Germany, the United States of America, France. Works are in private collections in Latvia and abroad, as well as in the collections of the State Art Museum and The Artists' Union of Latvia, at the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow and at the Ministry of Culture of Russia.
She got 1st place at the Vilnius painting triennale.
