Spring is an expressive, gestural paint- ing evoking the bright colours and vitality of Spring time - birdsong, blossom bursting open and being blown around in brisk breezes, sunny spells, unexpected frosts and an atmosphere of renewal and optimism. The painting is built up of veils of colour, scribbles and scratch- es.There is a variety of mark making and contrasting areas of transparent and opaque paint all of which enliven the surface of the painting and convey an atmosphere of speed and energy. It has a zesty vibe. Spring and its sister painting Spring Riot would make a great pair as they are painted from the same palette and with the same energy.

Janet Keith is a contemporary painter based in the U.K. Her painting is a response to the visual excitement and beauty of her surroundings.Her artistic roots are in outdoor painting, working directly from life. However, that rich experience now informs a more abstract and mostly studio based approach to painting - which has become an exploration of how spontaneous gesture and considered pictorial structure weave together in building an expressive painting. Janet's work is informed by the very rural surroundings of her studio, travels, music and soundscapes. She has Degrees in both the History of Art and Painting and exhibits regularly in the UK.’ Janet Keith artist is shown in Wychwood Art gallery and online .
