Biografia del artista
Joan Rifà Benet nace en Torelló (Barcelona) en 1926. Entre 1949 y 1956 estudia dibujo y pintura, primero en la escuela de ''Arts i Oficis'' (Llotja) y posteriormente Bellas Artes de Sant Jordi, donde fue discípulo de Francesc Labarta. Entre los años 1956 y 1973 se dedica a la pintura mural religiosa y civil, aplicando técnicas como el fresco, óleo, temple y cerámica (murales suyos podemos encontrarlos en Vic, Manresa, Abrera, etc.). Viaja por Europa y expone en Suecia, Alemania, Suiza y Francia, donde obtiene importantes distinciones como la medalla de oro de la Fondation Herbert d'Ukerman, de Grenoble, y es nombrado ''sociétaire'' por la Société Nationale des Beux Arts de París. Ilustra con doce aguafuertes un libro de Gabriel Coussin en el Festival de Carcassome. Participa en muestras internacionales en el Japón, Canadá, Yugoslavia, Suiza y Estados Unidos. Fallece el 20 de Julio de 2009.
