- "Under the Covers, " Abstract PaintingLocated in Westport, CTThis colorful abstract painting by Kelly Rossetti is made with acrylic on mixed media Fabriano paper. It features bold, expressive strokes in cool, muted green, blue, and grey, with contrasting warm tones and white applied in layers. It is unframed and dry mounted on an acid-free board. It comes in a protective plastic sleeve and is signed by the artist in the lower right-hand corner of the painting. Kelly Rossetti is a contemporary abstract and figurative painter based in Westport, Connecticut. While primarily self-taught, she studied classical oil painting at a small Atelier in New York City, to which she credits the development of her foundation and love of the figure. Kelly works in both acrylic and oil paint, and often utilizes an array of mixed media to achieve depth, texture and marks. "Whether it be loose and expressive figurative drawings or expressive paintings, I strive to capture an emotion that is evoked by viewing the work," Kelly says of her work. "My non-objective abstract work nearly always begins with play. Loose mark making that injects a sense of life force energy into the painting. My emphasis on line and layering is done using multiple mediums and tools to give a variety of marks and shapes to respond to. Discovering small hints of what lies beneath the surface plays a critical role in the overall composition and plays a vital role in my work. A career in the fashion industry has also influenced my aesthetic approach. As an executive in sales and merchandising, I worked side by side with design to forecast fashion and analyze color and color trends...Category

- CHEF'S HAT - Intricate Collage Wall Hanging Sculpture w/ Thick Painted PaperLocated in Signal Mountain, TN"I welcome the continual emergence of change, evolution, and the inevitable challenges that form a large part of a working artist’s life." With CHEF'S HAT, a recent and evolving work, I am moving into more dimensionality and space. My intention is to push patterned and embellished surfaces on paper from its naturally flat surface into a more structural and spatial plane. This involves making sculptural pieces from paper and experimenting with new construction methods using strips and lengths of paper over-lapped and fastened together, shaped into objects with physical presence. I feel I am migrating from the flat surface into the third dimension. I envision the paper constructions as a landscape to be wandered in and out of, through and around, a space that invites all and sundry to enter on their own terms. I hold firmly to the belief that my work exhibits a playfulness that belies a more serious assessment of our social world. I am interested in how something that is initially perceived as frivolous and celebratory can constitute a reaction against and resistance to the shadowy world of misfortune, hard luck, and weariness. Born in 1959, Lanie Gannon was predominantly inspired by the 1970s. Conceptualism is often perceived as a reaction to Minimalism, and the leading art movement of the 1970s, challenging the boundaries of art with its revolutionary features. The movements that succeeded were all representative of a strong desire to evolve and strengthen the art world, in response to the tensions of the previous 1960s. Process art branched...Category
