This artwork, signed by the artist, illustrates a complex and intriguing cubist composition. Geometric shapes interlock, creating an abstract machine with exposed, mysterious cogs. Earthy, metallic hues accentuate the work's industrial texture, evoking mechanics and industrialization. The contrast between deep shadows and illuminated surfaces creates an impression of depth and movement. The precise arrangement of the elements draws the eye to a central focal point, revealing the artist's technical ingenuity. Each section of the work seems to tell its own story, adding a narrative dimension to this captivating piece. The use of multiple perspectives, a signature of Cubism, invites a fluid, multifaceted interpretation of the whole. This is an excellent example of twentieth-century aesthetic innovation, where form and function come together in striking visual harmony.

Smart painter, full of humor and creativity. Something “baconian”. An immediate shift, a desire to play. found in all his work. We are dealing with a radiant artist. Of those who pretend nothing, however, are wary of any pose, which probably explains why John Reitz has fallen through the cracks of time. Nobody knows him. There are thus several of them in Geneva, perhaps this observation should be attributed to the ambient culture; here, any flashy exhibition, until recently, was experienced as suicidal. It is hardly surprising that in the wake of this deceptive realism John Reitz tried his hand at constructivism. Even less that he surprises us by throwing himself into it with consummate art on the contrary: the mechanism of his complications seems as if crushed by the extraordinary luminosity with which he manages to deck them out, cutting the grass under the foot in any pragmatic discourse. The man John Reitz is no longer there, but his work is so alive! A late teacher at the School of Decorative Arts in Geneva, he made an incursion into the world of fashion which shows how much he was not fooled. His brilliant art deco triptych screen puts a definitive end to constructivism and his portrait sketch of the singer Marie Dubas unleashes a smile that brings us back to his own, in the first photo of him mentioned at the beginning of this text. An artist, as Tamara and Olivier Veyrat aptly write, “with a modest posture. But that should not prevent each and everyone from placing themselves according to their desire in the general movement of art.

About
Rolph Scarlett was a painter of geometric and linear forms, an industrial designer, and a pioneer in helping establish non-objective art as an aesthetic in America. He also worked in an abstract art style during the American avant-garde movement which extended into the 1940s. He was born in Guelph, Ontario, Canada and travelled to New York City as an 18-year-old. By 1924 he made New York City his home.
In 1939, Scarlett was one of the founding members and forces which steered the development of the Museum of Non-Objective Painting in New York. (later, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum). Guggenheim was the sponsor behind the Avant Garde and pioneering, philosophy of Baroness Hilla Rebay who founded the early museum. She was both the founding curator and director of the museum, as well as an abstract artist. She encouraged and worked with Scarlett in the early museum years, together promoting the concepts of non-objective painting. In Scarlett’s aesthetic these where geometric elements intuitively placed in non-descript flat and three-dimensional space.
Any discussion of the history of the Guggenheim Museum must include four key figures: Hilla Rebay (1890-1967), Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944), Rudolf Bauer (1889-1953), and Rolf Scarlett...
