Having studied Fine Art and Art History at Newcastle University and lived in London for many years, cityscapes and the feelings that they evoke have always been important to his work.
Whilst in Newcastle, his paintings were predominantly figurative, depicting the River Tyne, the streets around the city centre and the run-down and derelict buildings that were such a feature of the city in the 1990s.
Upon moving to London, the work became more focused on the interior, resulting in a series of paintings of studio tables that became increasingly abstract. A move to South London in 2008 reawakened a love of the landscape and inspired a series of paintings based on the experience of travelling through the city.
"Whilst at college I spent two summers travelling extensively through Italy studying Italian art, the second of which was on a scholarship. I was also involved in a number of group shows in the North East. I’ve had two solo shows in London and have been represented at a number of art fairs. I have also shown my work with the Neo Constructivist group of artists."
