About the Item

Inspired by the landscape, my new series of paintings present both a micro (snail's view) and macro (bird's eye aerial view) of nature revealing the textures and colours found in grass, ponds and undulating hills. Painted on aluminium, the surface reflects a light that seems to be emitted from within the painting. The painting is mounted on circular MDF and ready to hang on the wall and appears to float 1cm from the wall. Discover artworks by Jonathan Moss available to buy online and in our art gallery. "My work draws upon journeys, on the interplay between the experience and memory of places with a hidden history. The initial stage of my creative process is to make video-walks, I then base my paintings and prints on the videos – seemingly abstract, but with a basis in the seen world. My goal is that my pieces transcend particular places and become spaces in which to lose oneself. They explore the importance of quiet contemplation in a chaotic world." Jonathan Moss exhibits his work internationally and in the UK. Dawn of a New Day, Moody Landscape Painting, Dartmoor Sky, Abstract Oil Painting
By Sophie Berger
Located in Deddington, GB
A gold-leaf landscape painting by Sophie Berger. This original oil painting on canvas board has the depth and moodiness of a Dartmoor sky as well as the vivid sunshine hiding beneath the clouds. This is captured by the iridescent glory of the gold leaf. When the viewer is moving around the room the reflection on the gold leaf changes the whole painting as it glows and reflects. Based on the ever changing skies in Devon where Sophie lives and works. New original artwork by artist, Sophie Berger is available with Wychwood Art in their gallery and online. Sophie Berger's recent work has been greatly influenced by her move to Devon and a new found love of the Dartmoor. She often sketches on the north moors and in Skaigh woods, taking in the mood of the sky, rolling hills and streams or concentrating on the intricate twisted branches and roots of the bracken. Sophie Berger's next stage is to recapture these sketches using oil paint when back at the studio in Kigbeare, thereby creating a strong connection between her work and the landscape. The changeable, moody landscapes...

Rook Haven
By Lee Tiller
Located in Deddington, GB
On a prominent hilltop in Wiltshire, there is a circular ring of trees known as Furze Knoll. It dominates the prehistoric landscape that lays between Marlborough and Stonehenge. It is an ethereal place so rich in mystery that you can easily imagine the fay living amongst the rooks, badgers and foxes It is a landscape where the artist Lee Tiller has lived for many years, and in this evocative painting, he invites us to reflect on the beauty and mystery of the sacred Wiltshire landscape. Rook Haven captures the atmospheric effects of a bright winter’s morning where a dusting of snow has settled on the frosty ground. Tiller’s fascination with natural light is clear to see with his chromatic rendering of reflected sunlight. As he says, “snow is never ‘white’, but is the result of reflected light and adjacent colour. The painting by Pissarro...
