About the Item

José Manuel Broto – Azul II, 2004 Acrylic on canvas, signed, dated and titled on the reverse. Measurements: W 300 × H 251 cm Impressive large-format painting by José Manuel Broto (Zaragoza, 1949), considered one of the most important Spanish artists on the international contemporary art scene. This work, titled Azul II and created in 2004, exemplifies his mastery of abstract language through vibrant chromatic contrasts, gestural brushwork, and an immersive use of space. Broto began his artistic training at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Zaragoza and, in 1972, settled in Barcelona, where he co-founded the group “Trama”. This collective, which published its own magazine, became a platform for new aesthetic theories and gained recognition when Antoni Tàpies presented their proposals in 1976, consolidating Broto’s position among the most promising creators of his generation. His work is distinguished by an expressive abstraction that integrates lyricism, energy, and a refined exploration of light and color. Azul II reflects these qualities on a monumental scale, offering a visual experience that is both intense and meditative. Today, Broto is acknowledged as one of Spain’s most prestigious contemporary painters, with exhibitions worldwide and works held in major public and private collections. This piece represents a unique opportunity to acquire an iconic example of his mature production.

Vitrales al Alba - Blue and Aqua Abstract Painting, South American Lyrical Art
By Alfredo Aya
Located in New York, NY
This stunning abstract piece captures the essence of dawn with its ethereal blue and aqua tones. The vertical composition and soft transitions of light evoke the effect of stained glass illuminated by morning sunlight, adding a tranquil atmosphere to any space. The delicate blending of shapes and colors creates a sense of harmony and balance, ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, or contemporary interiors that seek to evoke calm and reflection. Inspired by the artist’s belief that “form and movement emerge from color,” this work offers both visual depth and serene movement. Drawing parallels to lyrical abstraction, this painting shares an affinity with South American modernism, while offering a dynamic interplay of light and form that invites contemplation. Its fluid lines and luminous color palette make it versatile for a variety of design styles, adding both elegance and vibrancy to spaces. Aya was born in Paris in 1954 and after studying in Paris and Switzerland he moved to Colombia in his late teens. He lives and works in Bogota'. Abstract painting for living room...
