About the Item
Guinovart.
Josep Guinovart i Bertran (Barcelona 1927-2007) was a painter, draftsman and engraver from Catalonia, Spain.
After studying at the School of the Lonja and the Promotion of Decorative Arts of Barcelona, he won a scholarship in 1953 from the French Institute to make a trip to Paris for five months.
On his return to Barcelona and after a season working on scenographic illustrations and sets, towards the year 1957 he started a decanting towards abstract art, his unconventional work uses three-dimensional elements almost constantly in his works, most of them also of large format.
In 1994 a Museum was inaugurated in Agramunt dedicated to his work, population in which his mother had been born and which he has always been linked to.
He died on December 12, 2007, at age 80, having failed to overcome a heart attack suffered a few days ago.
