About the Item

This four-panel polyptych explores a sense of continuity through layered brushwork and color transitions. While each canvas stands on its own, together they form a cohesive visual field where movement and fragmentation coexist. The composition invites the viewer to engage with the work both as a whole and through the individual rhythms of each panel. Nature is a constant source of inspiration for the artist, whether driving through the South of France, hiking in the Pacific Northwest, or meditating while observing the surface of a river. Sometimes, their work emerges directly from interaction with and response to nature; other times, it reflects an internal search for resolution. Emotion is at the core of their practice. Rather than depicting specific natural scenes, the artist draws on natural elements. A single painting might combine colors and marks inspired by both hiking in the Pacific Northwest and swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. These are not representations of real or imagined spaces, but rather emotional expressions shaped by multiple environments. Some works span across multiple canvases, forming visual narratives or dialogues. The narrative pieces trace emotional journeys, while the dialog paintings explore harmony through contrast—bridging differences through color and mark-making. Painting, for the artist, is a process of clarity and self-expression. Rooted in honesty, their practice is intuitive and visceral, allowing the subconscious to surface and speak through the work.

Take on the Sublime
By Francesca Borgo
Located in BARCELONA, ES
Through my work, I invite viewers to find themselves in the ebb and flow of these abstract landscapes. Each piece is a reminder that, just like the clouds shifting across the sky or the waves reshaping the shore, we too are constantly adapting, evolving, and finding new ways to thrive. It is an exploration of how resilience is not a rigid stance, but a fluid process—a journey that requires both the gentleness to bend with change and the energy to face it head-on. In today’s world, where the pace of life often feels as unpredictable as the weather, my art speaks to the universal experiences of growth, adaptation, and the quiet strength that lies beneath the surface of every turbulent wave. Through these pieces, I hope to create a space where viewers can see their own stories—where they can find comfort in nature’s wisdom and inspiration in its endless capacity for renewal. I deem my works are mainly influenced by modern and contemporary artists, such as Zao Wou-Ki, Zhang Daqian, Julie Mehretu, David Hammons, Wu Chi-Tsung and traditional Chinese ink art...
