About the Item
The sculpture "Soul" embodies the interconnection of the material and spiritual, the external and internal world of man. The figure of a graceful female form is divided into two parts: one is embossed, with textured patterns, symbolizing the physical body, and the other is smooth, mirror-like and abstract, reflecting the intangible essence, the soul.
Polished bronze creates a reflection effect, emphasizing the idea of self-knowledge and human interaction with the world around him. The contrast between the detailed front part and the simplified, ephemeral back enhances the feeling of harmony between the physical and the spiritual.
The sculpture is installed on a marble pedestal, which adds stability and completeness to the work. ""Soul"" invites the viewer to reflect on the inner world, self-knowledge and the search for harmony between the visible and the invisible.

"Flag of France" Small French Flag (Blue/Gold/Red), 23 Karat Gold Leaf and Oil
By Charlotte Andry Gibbs
Located in Wellesley, MA
Charlotte Gibbs’ "flag" and "star" paintings often reference the artist's interest in Pop art and sometimes incorporate 23 karat gold leaf in addition to oil paint, but not always. With its depiction of a graphically idealized small French flag, "Flag of France" is at once lovely and bold. Beautifully painted and exquisitely executed, these elegant works of rich color are sophisticated examples of Gibbs' ability to invoke pure geometric abstraction while paying homage to France, and the artist's simple white wood frames are the perfect complement .
Gibbs is often commissioned to paint variations on her 'flags' and 'stars' to customize scale, orientation, palette, and/or symbols of particular significance to the client.
