Kim Frohsin
Compression: Cautionary Tales

2015

About the Item

Exquisite work from Frohsin's Cautionary Tales, with the appearance of a Navajo Blanket or three dimensional urban street signs that are bold, strong, colorful. The painting is mainly acrylic on archival board with mixed media. Professionally framed in a museum quality white ash wood. Featured / pictured at the Silicon Valley International Art Fair in 2015. Ships in a wooden crate. A powerful work of art that considers the rampant growth of our cities and the unknown price of what we see as spiraling progress. The painting is 40 x 40 inches and with framing it is 41 x 41 inches. Kim Frohsin, who is often associated with the Bay Area Figurative movement, began exhibiting in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1990s, and in 1993 was included with Nathan Olivera, Manuel Neri and Stephen De Staebler in an exhibit of "Four Figures from the Bay." With Wayne Thiebaud as the juror, she won the California Society of Printmakers' Award in 1996, and the following year exhibited at the de Young Museum in San Francisco in "Bay Area Art: The Morgan Flagg Collection." Frohsin is a multidisciplinary visual artist, who is at home with painting, drawing, monoprintIng, and mixed media. Her subjects include the female figure as well as mundane ''objects" and series — including ‘Cautionary Tales’ and ‘Portraits of Numbers’— that attract her attention, and which are most often autobiographical in nature.

  • Gold with Quadrants
    By Irene Zweig
    Located in Burlingame, CA
Geometric and serene in its complexity - abstract contemporary painting created with impeccable attention to detail by deconstructing original watercolors into dime sized triangular cut outs and then affixing them to a wooden panel. Artist Irene Zweig rearranges the media into a new and unique design, where the eye interprets the original message as subliminal; with the components of it still present, and the result is one of contemplative balance and harmony. Fine art, science and mathematics blend in Zweig's intellectually curious and aesthetically sound works that beautifully relate to other eclectic works. 'Gold with...
