About the Item

A.L. Woods’ geometric abstract acrylic paintings are developed using a combination of repeating triangular shapes and subtle color variations inspired by nature, including oceanic coral reefs, San Bruno’s Buckeye Canyon after a storm, and roses from her personal garden. Whether her subjects are big or small, optical illusions of depth and space appear through fields of undulating, harmonious colors to create environments or “landscapes” that mirror the rhythms of our natural world. 'Number 38: Blue', 24 x 24 inches. Acrylic on panel. In excellent condition. Proudly presented by Andra Norris Gallery in Burlingame, CA.

Seven Apples: abstract still life interior painting, red apples on green & gray
By Mat Tomezsko
Located in Bryn Mawr, PA
This is an original sill life interior painting of fruit (apples) with a geometric fractured composition. The artist made the painting one section at a time. When working on one section, the artist would block off the rest of the composition so the objects and background needed to be placed again. By building the composition this way, the background and table appear at different levels and the shapes don't quite align. These imperfections convey a sense of passing time. In each section, the tone of the light changes, and the shadows switch directions. The apples and geometric shapes were chosen as much for metaphorical value as for aesthetics. A seemingly simple arrangement in a familiar painting genre contains a depth of observation, artistic choices, and interpretation. This painting is signed and dated on the back. Includes all hanging hardware and ready to install; no need for additional framing. Mat...
