Lara Granqvist is a Swedish/English musician and artist. She is the singer of the band 'The Mighty Roars' which she and her husband, David Pringuer formed in 2006. The band released their debut album 'Swine & Cockerel' to critical acclaim in London with One Little Independent Records. Today, the Mighty Roars operate as an art and music collective, periodically releasing music, art, and short film. Under the tutelage of Martina Amengual (assistant to Joaquim Torrents Lladó), in Palma de Mallorca, Lara has developed her work in oil, watercolor, and pencil; in a multidisciplinary form, using mixed media on canvas, serigraphy, and digital drawing. Through a process of stream of consciousness denouement, Lara’s most recent work explores raw emotion in its purest form: she unlocks her inner thoughts through a quick, or ‘in bursts’ process, representing levels of her own unconscious and semi-conscious mind. Her designs are often conveyed in simple drawings: sometimes drawn with only a few lines, and often against very punchy colors. The result of Lara’s work is a strong, fresh, original experience, with the underlying presence of a certain vulnerability, which surprises, and creates a sense of a story, leaving the viewer compelled and intrigued.
