About the Item
Seaside is a contemporary abstraction that brings to life the movement, colours, and energy of the Brighton coastline in England. In a slight departure from the linear continuity of Waldusky's other works, there are breaks in the pattern to represent reflections. The piece also works turned upside down so that the reflections turn into cloud-like skies. Created at the same time as Tulip Field, this sibling piece may be displayed as a pair with its fraternal twin or on its own. Each hand-drawn line is 1 - 2 millimetres in thickness. The lines are next to each other to cover the entire surface in a controlled drawing process. The colours are used at their fullest intensity. The idea of placing colours next to each other is inspired by the likes of Seurat, who used dots of colour to create paintings. This dogmatic approach is meditative in its repetitiveness, as well as a mental challenge in concentration. Framed in white wood frame with UV acrylic. Overall framed size is 90 x 62 x 3cm. Signature is on the back of the art.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:
Laura Waldusky is an American artist living in the UK, known for her innovative works on paper that blend drawing and sculpture. She holds an MFA from Parsons School of Design in Design and Technology and a BFA from Texas Tech University in Studio Art. Her art has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections across the USA, UK, and EU. Laura's process is both meticulous and spontaneous, starting with colour pencils on heavy cotton paper. She builds up each piece with repetitive, evolving lines, exploring abstract patterns that gradually transform through her meditative, line-by-line technique entirely done by hand. The work challenges traditional boundaries of drawing, embracing unpredictability and craftsmanship to invite viewers into a world where structure meets fluidity, and precision meets play.

"Coastal Sky, " Contemporary Abstract Painting
By Teodora Guererra
Located in Westport, CT
This contemporary abstract painting by Teodora Guererra features a light, coastal palette of blue, light grey and off-white. The artist applies thick layers of oil paint in sweeping, horizontal gestures to create a thick, textured surface. The painting is made on gallery wrapped canvas and is wired and ready to hang. Signed by the artist on the back of the canvas.
Teodora Guererra’s abstract artistic vision has evolved throughout her years spent painting and teaching in Fairfield County, Connecticut; Tucson, Arizona, and upstate New York. Arizona’s naturally radiant landscape and arid climate led her to experiment with rich under-painting and vivid color; while the shifting seasons of the East Coast inspired Guererra to pursue dripping and staining techniques. Her focus has always been pushing the limits through experimentation with new materials.
“As an artist, painting can be tormenting and sublime at the same time," the artist says of her work. "I'm a big risk taker, experimenting with different materials to layer, stain and saturate color on large canvases. My most successful work looks as if it happened all at once. It sometimes takes 7 or more paintings to produce a successful one and then it's a beautiful thing."
Guererra received her undergraduate and graduate Art degrees from Southern Connecticut University, The College of Saint Rose and Skidmore College. Guererra’s paintings can be found in public and private collections across the U.S., including the Allmen Health and Wellness Center for Women in New York and SUNY Brockport, NY, William & Sonoma, San Francisco, CA. Her influences are Pat Steir, John McCracken, Helen Frankenthaler, Donald Jud, Bernar Venet, Agnes Martin and Brian Rutenberg...
