About the Item
My work bridges the divide between
sculpture and painting and drawing.
Paintings are geometric masses
of color in oil paint and wood dowels,
on shaped canvas. Often grouped in
diptychs, triptychs, or more, the
surrounding space is activated,
so that the entire wall becomes the
canvas. Pieces appear sculptural, yet
mount flat on the wall with no need
for a frame. Unconventional
perspective seemingly defies gravity
in a boundless space.
Inspired by vast open landscapes,
my work is elastic. Paintings float in
space. Drawings zoom in to focus on
subtle intimate details. I feel the
monumentality of the world, infinite
air and the density of time past.
I strive to work beyond the boundaries
of the familiar to have the work evolve
naturally. It’s a wabi-sabi thing. Process
is visible. Brushstrokes, and underlying
brushstrokes, reveal themselves.
Shapes are loosely filled in.
The work keeps on growing.
Zen Corner (Ara Pacis Corner)
Installation Instructions
Please read before installing.
Zen Corner is a sculpture more than it is a painting. It sits unassumingly in a corner. Someone entering the room might not notice it immediately. When they do, it’s intriguing.
It is intended to be installed in a corner at two adjoining walls and the floor. Ideally, any baseboards should be cut away to exactly fit the corner, flat against the adjoining walls.
(Some collectors may prefer to install it in a corner on the ceiling, as opposed to on the floor.)
The artwork is delivered flat as shown below.
Dowel (a) goes into the corner by the floor.
Few corners in homes and offices are perfectly square. Adjust the panels of the artwork to meet in the best possible position, so we do not see the floor where the panels meet.
As an option, I’ve attached Velcro to the back of the artwork to facilitate installation. Once the Velcro is attached to the wall, you will not be able to reposition it. Velcro will damage the wall surface when you remove it. You may consider using “artist tape” to protect the wall, behind each piece of Velcro. You may choose a different adhesive if you prefer.

There is a Block in the Void 1261 - Neutral Sculptural Painting on Canvas
By Len Klikunas
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Artist Len Klikunas creates meditative minimalist sculptural artworks that modify experienced reality through visual perception. His art is a mix of art and architecture, hovering between painting and sculpture, energy and matter. It employs shizen (自然): the Japanese concept of naturalness, absence of pretense, or artificiality. Material is stretched over a supporting three-dimensional framework, like a tent, and coated with paint allowing shadows and reflections to fill the spaces in between.
This sculptural three-dimensional 18-inches square and 5-inch deep post-minimalist artwork is wired and ready to hang. It is created with mixed media on canvas, stretched over a three-dimensional wooden form. The artist finishes the sides of this artwork as a continuation of the front and signs and titles the artwork on the back. Convenient local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable worldwide shipping for US and international art collectors. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included.
Klikunas focuses on the larger idea behind his original abstract minimalist artworks. The work is characterized by “mindful artlessness” and simplicity. The natural-like radiation that comes from the structure of the materials and color schemes expresses calmness. With a fusion of art and architecture, Klikunas presents compositions focused on abstract reliefs based on regularity and geometry that defy conventional perceptions. Through strategic placement and a rich color palette that also includes monochrome paintings, he creates three-dimensional structures that engage viewers in a captivating visual experience.
Len Klikunas' sculptural minimalist works are represented by Artspace Warehouse Los Angeles. They have been included in numerous exhibitions at galleries and art fairs as well as private and public collections throughout the world.
