“Kiss Me, Love Me” is the fourth of a continuing “ILYSFM” series which explores femininity, love & beauty, drag, and attraction as iconic symbolism. Inspired by drag queens, femininity, and the iconography of romance in pop culture, the “ILYSFM” (which is an acronym for “I love you so f***ing much”) series is created with makeup (usually lipstick) and the artist’s lips, which themselves are a unique and individual form of biometry and identification alongside the timeless iconography of love and romance. “Kiss Me, Love Me,” along with “Call Me, Kiss Me,” are two parts of a story in which strangers come from two separate ways and cross paths. In Kiss Me, Love Me, the two colors represent two individuals coming from different directions and conjoining into one. The colors are selected not only to represent different individuals, but also the paths (of love?) that they choose to take. The business cards were selected because they symbolize communication and the effort to stay in touch in a fast-paced, dynamic world. Yet unlike its predecessor, in Kiss Me, Love Me the matter isn’t whether the two individuals will call each other after a kiss, but rather they will continue to remain devoted to love after a meeting kiss. Maybe you will kiss me. But will you still love me?
