About the Item

"Largest Blue/Green Abstraction," Oil on Canvas, 36 x 36 Inches, is a brilliantly colored, gorgeous and lush abstraction, very expressionist and fluid in style in shades of white, greens, blue, and orange. Holt has an exquisite sense of color and a masterful touch, these works shimmer and sparkle. This is the largest square abstraction in this series by Holt, numerous related works measure 8 x 8 inchs, 12 x 12 inches, and 30 x 30 inches so groupings are also a possibility for installations. The artist also considers them as studies for larger paintings that can be commissioned in any size inspired by, and identical to but enlarged, these smaller paintings. The paint surface is heavy impasto. A similar sized work, 30 x 40inches and a rectangle, is also available. This painting is not framed. Framing is not necessary as the sides are painted white. Linda Holt was raised in Philadelphia and lived in England, Alabama and Virginia before attending the Paris American High School and graduating from Skidmore College with a BS in fine art in 1970. She received an MFA in Painting from the University of Pennsylvania where she studied with Neil Welliver. Holt’s paintings have been seen in 19 one-person exhibitions, over 50 group exhibitions, and in addition to numerous private collections, Holt’s paintings are included in many public collections including the Wichita Center for the Arts, Wellington Management, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Fidelity Investments, Mass General Hospital, and the Seaport and Reef Hotels. Selected reviews include articles in “The Boston Globe,” “Art New England,” and the “Houston Chronicle.” Holt was awarded the Nathaniel Saltonstall Purchase Prize in Drawing, has been a Trustee and Visiting Artist at Montserrat College, a Guest Critic at FIT in New York, and a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. The artist resides in Boston and has been represented by the Beth Urdang Gallery since 1995.

Oct. 2020. 36 x 36 x 1.5 inches. Unframed Acrylic Painting-Ready to hang-sides will be painted a Greenish tone to match the painting. (16 layers) Gallery Wrapped Cotton Canvas. Textured/Layered Abstract Painting. Painted with palette knives. I added several layers of primer before adding my main layers. I have used 2 Blue hues and 2 Green hues as the main colors for this painting. Then I started to focus on the abstract lines & patterns I wanted to create. I decided to create some whimsical abstract strokes which gave me more ideas to use on this painting. I have used additional colors such as Red, 2 shades of Orange, Gold, and a Teal Blue as the additional whimsical abstract accent color lines and patterns. There are small touches of Gold in the Teal section of the painting. There are small details that are hard to pick up with my photographs. The painting can be hung 4 different directions - so there is 2 Vertical hangings and 2 Horizontal hangings. Felt pads included on backside corners. Signed on the backside and Certificate of Authenticity included with the painting 1/1. ***PLEASE note: Lighting will make a huge difference in the mood of this painting-as with any painting.
