About the Item
SUNDOG 22 is an acrylic on panel painting belonging to the Sundog series inspired by the meteorological phenomenon of Sundogs (parhelia), occurrences of bright spots straddling the Sun in a 22° halo. The triangular wooden panel was custom-made by a carpenter, based on a paper shaped model created by the artist. Here, the pattern of intersecting quadrangles is intensified through the use of hues, creating a relationship between the colors and the shape’s edges. The abstract, flat field of color achieves a perfect, illusion-like quality, rendering a natural Sundog viewing.
SUNDOG 22 was featured in Linda King Ferguson’s solo exhibition Kissing the Sky at the Channel To Channel Gallery.
