About the Item

SUNDOG 8 is an acrylic on panel painting belonging to the Sundog series inspired by the meteorological phenomenon of Sundogs (parhelia), occurrences of bright spots straddling the Sun in a 22° halo. Contrary to other pieces in the series, only two sections of the prismatic shape have been filled with acrylic paint in reddish hues, leaving the rest raw. The natural stains of the birchwood panel visually merge with the pattern, completing the illusion and bringing yet another element of nature into the series, creating a dynamic story lit by the warm reds of sunrise and sunset. SUNDOG 8 was featured in Linda King Ferguson’s solo exhibition Kissing the Sky at the Channel To Channel Gallery.

Diamond II 2018 Geometric Abstract Oil Painting Artist signed verso, oil on canvas 48x48 JARO was born in 1934 Prague the Czech Republic. Since his childhood, he enjoyed his art class at school the most. Almost every drawing and panting were on display in his classroom. Since then JARO painted on and off, until he opened his own studio in 1965 on East 4th Street in the Village. JARO stretched off shaped canvases, making him one of the first artists working with these unique shapes. At the time JARO owned his own studio, he studied at the Art Students League 57th Street, New York.  Later in 1969, he studied in Woodstock for several years with John Pike, one of the foremost watercolorists in America, as well as, with Robert Angeloch...
