Textured Abstract Expressionist Composition (I) in Acrylic on Board

2000s

About the Item

Textured Abstract Expressionist Composition in Acrylic on Board Textured and detailed abstract composition by Loretta Burton Youngman (American, b. 1943). Red and charcoal blue patches sit atop a yellow and tan background. There are overlapping textured shaped embossed into and raised from the surface. The shapes and patterns are reminiscent of ancient glyphs, monuments, technology, and biomorphic patterns, creating a familiar yet simultaneously alien scene. A splash of gold colored paint over the top accentuates the deep, saturated colors below it. Unsigned, but was acquired with a collection of the artist's work. No frame, but the edges have been painted for a frame-less display. Board size: 24"H x 15.5"W Loretta Burton Youngman (American, b. 1943) is an artist and teacher originally from North Carolina. She lived and taught in the Philippines, Taiwan, and Hungary. She was an art teacher at the International school in the Philippines in Makati and an art teacher at Taipei American School in Taiwan where she promoted and taught the IB Art Program. C1120 Unstretched Abstract Light Green Blue White Quotes Words Dictionary
By Zach Touchon
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
This work is a part of the "Chaos and Control Theory" Series - the artist's signature series. It was created with the pages from an Oxford Dictionary of Quotations. This technique gives a special character to the work - you can play with it by asking questions, pointing to any part of the work, and you will get a meaningful phrase or a word. The work has blue and white colors. Great for the modern interior. The artwork is currently unstretched and will be shipped rolled. We offer stretching services for an additional $400.00, which will take approximately 3 weeks to complete. Please note that the shipping cost for a stretched canvas will need to be calculated upon request. -- "Chaos and Control Theory" Series is about depth and space. It’s about information overload, and what information looks like when you take out a meaning. I create lots of layers, using found materials and printed materials. I do an abstract expressionism painting on a surface first before I apply the printed and found materials. And then I begin to organize the surface, ultimately thinking about balance and flow and how the piece is going to contribute to the space it is going to be hanging in. -- Zach Touchon is an American contemporary abstract expressionist artist and muralist based in Los Angeles, CA. Besides that, Touchon is also an actor, a singer, a screenwriter, and a writer. Zach Touchon is an artist in the second generation. By rethinking abstract expressionism ideas, using different media he creates large abstract artwork along with small collages, huge...
