About the Item
The original colour inspiration for this canvas , was the beautiful blossom on the red horse chestnut trees , surrounding the studio. I also wanted to use fragments of treasured charcoal drawings. I began the canvas in red collage and paint, white followed with small areas of blue. The combination of colours I think looks very American , and jazzy. Gold leaf was also added.

Therefore, I have a vast amount of passion for the skies, sea and mountains which I love to involve within my paintings. My recent works have been developed from these roots and are becoming much more abstract, focusing on 'the essence of place' through the colours I use and emotions I have created. I work mainly in oils, acrylic and mixed media, sometimes adding unique materials such as sand, carborundum, iron fillings and many other products I feel the work dictates.

This is one in my series of emotionally charged coastal abstract artworks. I used saturated vibrant colors and powerful brush strokes, as I do in all my paintings, in order to create a lasting visual impression.
