About the Item

Bow to the Frontier acknowledges the border between thresholds and that frontiers requires a humbling of self. It is to place ourselves in the role to acquiesce to the breadth that stretches before us even as we gather courage to advance. After living and working in the various disciplines of Japanese culture from long-bow archery to tea ceremony Majio began to cultivate a different relationship to things. No longer purely matter, objects have a presence, history and requirements of their own. These large acrylic painting and mixed media pieces on canvas and wood panels investigate everyday objects in a greater context.
