LIFE is Just a Way Through YOU - Acrylic on Paper, Abstract Painting, 2024
Located in London, GB
"Life is just a way through You" (2024) is an abstract geometric painting that layers vibrant colors into a rhythmic, almost architectural composition. Shades of red, pink, yellow, purple, green, grey, orange, brown, blue, and black intersect and overlap, creating both harmony and tension. The vertical and horizontal lines suggest pathways and barriers, echoing the journey of life as something navigated through others, through love, loss, and human connection. Exhibited at the Barbican Art Society’s Annual Exhibition in London (2024), this painting reflects the artist’s confessional style — deeply personal yet open to universal interpretation. The transparency of acrylic layers reveals vulnerability, while the bold colors assert resilience. Direct from the artist’s studio, it stands as a testament to honesty, desire, and the constant search for meaning in relationships and identity. Title: "Life is just a way through You" Medium: Acrylic on paper Dimensions: 41 x 31 cm (A3) Year: 2024 Condition: New Exhibition history: Annual Exhibition, Barbican Art Society, London, July 2024 Provenance: Direct from the artist, Aurelian Razvan Dinu

Deborah Dancy "State of Being 17" - Abstract Acrylic Painting on Paper
By Deborah Dancy
Located in New York, NY
Deborah Dancy State of Being 17, 2021 acrylic on paper 38 x 30 in. (dan039) This original contemporary abstract work on paper by Deborah Dancy is comprised of grey, brown, white, blue, yellow, and black hues, in her signature built up/re-built space that as she says, "operate in a realm in which beauty and tension simultaneously exist without explanation or narrative." Deborah Dancy is an abstract artist. Her paintings and drawings are sensuous provocations beset with marks that guide, then abruptly collide into confrontational slabs of color. There is an atmosphere of complex but urgent tension in her work, as she builds tangential linear demarcations, and abutting shapes, that provoke, entice and disrupt; -taking us everywhere and nowhere. From densely painted forms to more minimally declared images, Dancy’s work operates in the recognition that meanderings, intentional and accidental declarations are best when the beautiful and the disconcerting exist simultaneously. Deborah Dancy was born in Bessemer, Alabama and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She earned BFA from Illinois Wesleyan University and an MS and an MFA from Illinois State University. She is the recipient of John Simon Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, a Yaddo Fellow, and a National Endowment of the Arts NEFA award. Her work is in many collections including The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, The Birmingham Museum of Art, The Hunter Museum and The Detroit Institute of Art.
