About the Item

From a fabric of lines, surfaces, shapes and structures, balanced by matte and bright colors, the artist creates landscapes, fauna and flora, motifs of animate and inanimate nature. In a dynamic rhythm using flowing colors, painterly, ornamental and expressive elements become allegories of life. From an early age, his artistic work has expressed a deep connection with nature out of curiosity and constant interest in observing nature, which the artist processes in a unique artistic way. Mathias Wunderlich: My themes are diverse and I often circle around them in series in small, medium and large formats on paper, canvas or wood in prints, drawings and paintings. The role of humans in nature, the regenerative, cyclical moment, interests and fascinates me just as much as the lyrical beauty of the appearance. By applying paint in layers and using eruptive painting gestures, I develop my picture compositions into a distillate of the greatest possible simplification and conciseness, into hymns to nature and life.
