About the Item
“Rift Valley, Sonde 8” is a striking mixed-media composition that harmonizes Color-field staining, impasto-relief techniques, and gestural painting to create an immersive, multilayered experience. This work radiates a dynamic energy, where fluid forms and gilded textures converge to evoke a dreamlike natural world. The interplay of deep crimson, shimmering gold, and soft gradients generates a sense of movement, as though the landscape is in constant transformation. Rich surface textures add depth and tactile intrigue, inviting the viewer to explore the tension between abstraction and organic beauty. Through its atmospheric qualities, Sonde 8 transports the observer into a meditative dreamscape, where earth, light, and form blend seamlessly, offering a glimpse of an imagined, yet timeless, terrain.
The painting has finished off-white edges and can be hung vertically or horizontally.

Melisa Taylor Metzger
In Melisa Taylor’s work, the natural world acts as blueprint while ideas are sourced from historical art and contemporary culture. She pursued studies in Marine Biology before training in classical art of the Old Masters. She grew fascinated by the works of Flemish painters Vermeer and Rembrandt whose symbolic use of light influences her practice up to this day. Melisa explores the notion of the sublime through blur and precision. She develops an aesthetic of duality by hybridizing divergent approaches to art. Her studio practice is labor-intensive; various instruments and electric tools are used out-of-context to inject unpredictability in the painting gesture. She has assimilated in her practice an eclectic multilayering process combining pyrography, sanding and detailed stencil compositions on wood. Wabi-sabi -embracing chance- is a central idea in her work, equally so is meticulous control. This results in a subterranean tension that jeopardizes the ethereal appearance of her pieces; arbitrariness and mechanical execution fuse to create what she calls "systèmes faillibles" where spectral motifs seek to emerge out of obscuring lattices. Her work has been exhibited internationally and acquired in private and corporate collections across North America and abroad.

PRISMATIC SERIES #2 ROSE/BURGUNDY contemporary abstract
By Linda Jacobson
Located in Palm Desert, CA
The Prismatic Series is based on light, movement and color, abstract paintings expressing the changing qualities of the external world, without any limitations of form. Prismatic Series #3 is painted with many layers of oil glazes over acrylic washes to create luminous color. On gallery wrapped linen canvas. Linda Jacobson's paintings are lyrical abstractions inspired by her love of landscape and its elements: form, movement, light, and what she perceives to be its essence an energy or quality that goes beyond visual appearance. Born in Los Angeles, she received her BFA from California State College, Northridge, and graduated Summa cum Laude from the prestigious Art Center College of Design where she was mentored by pioneer California modernist Lorser Feitelson. Her work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums throughout the United States and abroad, including MRG Fine Art, in Los Angeles; Gallerie Rohling, Berlin, Germany; California State University Channel Islands in Ventura; Karpeles Museum in Santa Barbara, California; BG Gallery in Santa Monica; George Lawson...
