Maps Of Unusual Landscapes are inspired by my late night and early morning walks since the beginning of the pandemic. I'd often find myself switching direction or turning around in an attempt to avoid other people. Normally, my dog and I meander through the neighborhood catching up on everyone's news and saying hello to friends. The strange reality of avoiding other humans has changed the landscape for me. Not framed. Layering texture, colour, and intuitive marks, Melissa McGill builds abstract worlds on raw canvas and paper. Her work is inspired by literature, the natural world and life events.
