About the Item
A wonderful large abstract still life oil painting with figures by Brazilian artist Menelaw Sete (aka Sete Menelaw, b. 1964). Menelaw Sete is internationally known as “The Picasso of Brazil”. Born in the city of Salvador, Brazil, the artist began drawing as far back as his childhood. In the mid-1980's, the artist completed a formal training in one of the leading art schools in Bahia. Then he began painting on a full-time basis. He lives in Salvador, Bahia Brazil, more precisely in the historical centre of Pelourinho, a national artistic heritage, recognized by Unesco, in his studio in Via Joao de Deus, where one can see his works and which is totally dedicated to his production. His neo-impressionistic and cubist work is infused with Afro-Brazilian imagery and themes.
Oil on canvas, signed and dated 99 lower right, unframed. The painting has been restretched on its original stretcher. Dimensions: 59.25 in H x 72 in W x 1 in D, actual. Ref: 14287
