La produzione artistica di Mino Maccari è rivolta principalmente alla satira sociale e politica, espressa soprattutto attraverso il disegno; peraltro egli non si collocò mai come giudice dei costumi italiani, ma piuttosto come cronista divertente, e divertito, dei vizi e delle debolezze della società. Nella produzione pittorica, pur non discostandosi in maniera eccessiva dalle tematiche dei suoi disegni, accentua maggiormente l'aspetto fantastico: con rapide e decise pennellate e cromie accese, spesso violente, caratterizza figure quasi irreali o piuttosto caricaturali.
