About the Item

This contemporary vivid abstract-expressionist still life painting depicting everyday objects and red apples has been created by French artist Natalya Mougenot. Known for her expressive brushwork, luminous color palette, and emotionally charged compositions, Mougenot merges modern abstraction with the quiet poetry of still life art, transforming ordinary objects into symbols of vitality and emotion. In "Dialogues in Stillness", Mougenot reimagines the traditional still life through a vibrant contemporary style that bridges structure and spontaneity. A tall vase, a blue pitcher, a covered jar, and glowing apples rest upon a golden table alive with movement and light. The composition vibrates with energy — a visual conversation between form and feeling, silence and rhythm. Her artistic language is rooted in expressive freedom and authenticity. “A painting can’t lie — it always reveals the truth of its creator,” she says. Her brushstrokes become emotional statements, her colors a reflection of inner balance. Deeply influenced by Henri Matisse, whom she admires for his vivid tones and fearless simplicity, Mougenot often returns to blue as a key emotional note in her paintings. “Blue, for me, is the color of depth and sincerity — it’s where calm and emotion coexist,” she explains. Drawing further inspiration from Van Gogh and Cézanne, she channels their expressive honesty and compositional harmony through her own deeply personal vision. “Authenticity is not a style — it’s a presence,” she adds, summarizing the soul of her practice. The concept behind this piece reflects Mougenot’s ongoing exploration of simple things in life — the beauty of humble objects, cherished moments, and quiet memories. “The canvas and the artist’s inner world are two halves of one whole,” she notes. “True art begins where pretending ends.” Through vivid contrasts of warm and cool tones, she reveals the pulse of life within stillness — a gentle tension between order and spontaneity. “Each brushstroke is a confession of who we are inside,” Mougenot reflects. Her strength lies in transforming simplicity into essence — giving voice to what is often overlooked. The red apples, glowing with warmth, become symbols of memory, nourishment, and emotional truth. In "Dialogues in Stillness", Mougenot invites the viewer into a world where silence speaks, where color becomes language and sincerity becomes light. “Some paintings decorate walls; others reveal souls,” she says. Dialogues in Stillness belongs to the latter — a painting that transcends the decorative to touch something deeply human and real. This original artwork fits beautifully in modern, minimalist, and contemporary interiors, where its vibrant hues and expressive texture bring warmth and depth. Perfect for art collectors or design lovers seeking a unique statement piece, this painting harmonizes effortlessly with modern living rooms, creative studios, and elegant dining spaces, infusing them with vitality, reflection, and timeless emotion. Her multicultural background and personal experience inform her bold, expressive works, which have found homes in private collections around the world. Natalya’s distinctive visual language blends Abstract Expressionism, Impressionism, Art Naïf, and Art Brut—resulting in paintings that are raw, instinctive, and emotionally resonant. Across her work, three values guide her: authenticity, sincerity, and honesty. “Authenticity is everything,” she says. “People can always feel when something is real—or when it’s not. I want my work to be honest, to come from a place that’s true.” In addition to painting, Natalya is also a passionate photographer. Her photographic work—also featured on this platform—mirrors her painterly sensibility: a poetic, observational approach that captures the quiet power of everyday life. For her, photography is both inspiration and a form of presence, often serving as visual sketches for future paintings or existing as standalone works.
