About the Item
"Over the Couch Piece" is a large contemporary abstract painting created by Nancy Bergman Pantirer in 2019. This painting has a self-reflexive element as the artist is aware that her paintings creep into collectors' living rooms as they are so appealing to the masses. And they do! A majority of Pantirer's pieces live in living spaces because they are so comforting to look at. The abstraction of warm reds and oranges constrast the cool blues, creating a sense of unity. Thus the piece represents the seasons of the year: the warm disappearing into the cool, disappearing into the warm. Pantirer is truly a master of colors.

Artist Biography:
Nancy Bergman Pantirer’s paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions throughout the country and can be found in collections such as the University of Hartford, as well as corporate and private collections. She also had works for public art installations displayed in New York, New Jersey, Washington DC, and Connecticut.
Nancy received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford, as well as a Master of Arts from Montclair State College. She further refined her craft through graduate coursework at Tufts University Museum School in Boston and Pratt University in New York.
“My work is primarily an investigation in visual thinking. The relationships of color, surface, composition, as well as experience, are addressed in the exercise of creating each painting…The variables in this investigation are color, arrangements, and rearrangements that offer the viewer a new visual understanding,” said Nancy.
