About the Item
Artist Comments
A dynamic and playful abstract in pastels by artist Natalie George. Blocks of color are applied in multiple layers and finished with fluid mark-making. "Bright colors dance in this abstracted landscape," says Natalie. "The harmony of music and language comes to mind."
About the Artist
Natalie George has been an artist her entire life. A college semester in Italy introduced her to the tradition of realism. After mastering this classical style, she began to experiment with abstraction in her work. Natalie now paints heavily abstracted landscapes, combining unexpected colors to create interpretations of reflective bodies of water. Her work recalls both modernism and the gilded compositions of 20th Century Austrian painter Gustav Klimt. The artist’s process begins with visiting a location and shooting reference photographs, followed by sketches on paper, before finally turning to canvas. Natalie’s paintings reward the patient viewer, who will discover delicate horizon lines, trees, and fluid reflections within her hazy abstractions.
