Listening to Scarlatti in Red - bold, geometric, abstract, collage on paper
By Francine Simonin
Located in Bloomfield, ON
Vertical composition on paper with a saturated wine red ground over which bristle brushed lines are cross hatched in black and royal blue. Layered over these central marks is a structure of stacked, collaged geometric strips of paper painted with intersecting lines and shapes of marine blue, red and white. This work is unframed. Please ask us about framing options. Titled "listening to Scarlati" the piece may certainly be a response to the structured sonatas for harpsicord and pianoforte of Domenico Scarlatti, an Italian composer and contemporary of Bach and Handel. Scarlati spent much of his life at the service of the Portugese and Spanish royalty...

Listening to Scarlatti - bold, layered, abstract shapes, collage on paper
By Francine Simonin
Located in Bloomfield, ON
Vertical composition on paper with a canary yellow acrylic ground over which bristle brushed lines are cross hatched in black. Layered over these central marks is a central collaged strip of paper highlighted in ultra marine blue and grey topped by a tache of white paint. This is balanced by a horizontal strip in white and grey at the foot of the composition held down by another white swipe of white acrylic. A small horizontal collaged rectangle at the upper left keeps the eye moving upwards in the picture plane. This work is unframed. Please ask us about framing options. Titled "listening to Scarlatti", or en ecoutant Scarlatti in French, the piece may certainly be a response to the sonatas of Domenico Scarlatti, an Italian composer and contemporary of Bach and Handel. "Guided by The Blue Butterfly" Abstract Chandelier Painting Acrylic on Canvas
By Ash Almonte
Located in New York, NY
The Chandelier series for Ash portrays an inner mantra, that light is a fuel in which we all connect, the artist goes on to explain: "We all have a light inside of us and that light is how we connect in some realm; whether it be a mentor, a friend, a stranger, a nurse. It is this innate human connection that brings us together and for me, a chandelier represents the complexity and beauty of this and so the idea of providing this light for one another is what motivates me in this collection." Almonte is constantly developing her aesthetic, further breaking the barriers of how she applies paint onto the canvas by carefully manipulating her dried acrylic pallet. Cutting and reapplying the leftover paint onto new works of art, Almonte creates a refreshing and unique design that gives her work a new dimension and a more 3D-like feel. This piece is painted on thick gallery wrap canvas and is signed lower right and on verso, it comes with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed. Art measures 60 x 48 inches Inspired by vibrance and an optimistic outlook on life, Ash Almonte is recognized for her distinct abstract expressionistic style. She is best known for her series of Chandeliers, Butterflies, and Fashion from the Seventh Avenue Design District. Almonte's award-winning works can be found in private and permanent collections around the world. She is motivated by change, compassion for others, and miraculous phenomena that can impact others for good. Her flair and admiration for fashion and art have been a staple of her life since childhood. As a young girl, she would experiment using anything she could find to make art; from tearing apart bushel baskets at her father’s fruit stand, to tearing out old magazine clippings from her mother's magazine collection; anything and everything around her could potentially be used to create. She would continue to seek out opportunities throughout her young adult years, as her love for fashion grew, allowing her to collaborate with celebrity stylists creating looks for top billboard artists, as well as apparel worn at New York Fashion Week for designers Sherri Hill...

"Untitled" Colorful Abstract Butterfly Painting Acrylic on Stonehenge Paper
By Ash Almonte
Located in New York, NY
The Butterfly series for Ash began as a sentiment to her late Father. Butterflies began to appear in unexplainable ways after his passing, the artist later discovered that Butterflies represent spiritual rebirth, transformation, change, hope, and life - she goes on to say: "The butterfly series draws inspiration from Rivera's quote 'Butterflies can't see their wings. They can't see how truly beautiful they are, but everyone else can.'" After coming to the fruition that Butterflies pose as not only a symbol for beauty and rebirth, Almonte felt a feeling of deep comfort. Her passion for sharing this message of hope and renewal through her colorfully diverse canvases is achieved with resilience leaving her audience glimmering much like the inner voice and the spark of Joie de vivre that fuels her purpose in life to create. This piece is painted with acrylic and mixed media on heavyweight stonehenge paper, and is signed by the artist lower right. Art measures 30 x 22 inches Inspired by vibrance and an optimistic outlook on life, Ash Almonte is recognized for her distinct abstract expressionistic style.
