About the Item

Underwater Painting by Olga Nikitina The Thistlegorm, wreck of The Second World War in The Red Sea. Underwater painting is a new very unique fast growing direction in contemporary art. Artwork was created underwater during scuba diving. Wreck is laying at the depth of 30-18 meters, very often there is bed visibility and strong current. Lots of photos and videos have been taken about this wreck. But only one painting in the world was created underwater, directly on the ship wreck at the depth of 18 meters. Thistlegorm was a British cargo steamship that was built in North East England in 1940 and sunk by German bomber aircraft in the Red Sea in 1941. Nowadays wreck is a unique underwater museum with lots of military ammunition: Bedford trucks, Universal Carrier armored vehicles, Norton 16H and BSA motorcycles, Bren guns, cases of ammunition like reminder that we must live in peace. In 2007 The Times named Thistlegorm as one of the top ten wreck diving sites in the world. The genre is intuitive painting, based on feelings and emotions in the particular moment underwater. Bright abstract seascape painting will be a good addition to your original oil painting collection. Original art is painted on stretched canvas. The sides are painted. Ready to hang. What is special about underwater painting - color perception different to reality because color rays do not penetrate the water column. On the surface it is always surprise. Ocean Blue Abstract Expressionist
By Jerzy Kubina
Located in Lake Worth Beach, FL
Ocean Large Blue Abstract Expressionist artist signed and titled. Jerzy Kubina Polish/American Artist: Jerzy was born in Zamosc, Poland, 1956. Studied at the Academy Of Fine Arts in Krakow 1981/1986 in the painting department under individual instructions of prof. Jan Szancenbach. He decided to immigrate to New York in 1986. Jerzy constructs large scale images on silk using technologies to create layers, textures, translucency. He is searching for a language that expresses the ideas inside. Sometimes the paintings are quiet and translucent, and then suddenly become very dramatic. There is a symbiotic relationship between him and the materials. Jerzy Kubina has exhibited his work widely in the US, including at Soho New York's first-ever gallery, the esteemed O. K. Harris. He has also shown internationally, in Paris, Poland and Mexico. Kubina graduated Magna Cum Laude from the M. A. program of The Academy of Fine Arts, Cracow, Poland. Artist Statement. "I do not limit myself to a classical representation of an image. I'm in constant search of new media which not only enriches the subject but also inspires me to new forms of expression. Visual appreciation is a creative exercise performed in a specified time and a specific emotional state. The subject must be individual and unique. I do not attempt to keep a tight rein on my art’s framework, but give myself the opportunity to individualize each of the works. My present concerns are of the sacred and the profane, always longing for harmony, accompanied by destruction and devastation, my inner world translates that pulse into color images. My new works are a continuation of the process of creating art for art's sake.
