WAVING VI - Rhythmic Gouache Abstract Painting

2022

About the Item

WAVING VI 28.0 x 20.0 x 0.2, 0.5 lbs Gouache on paper Hand signed by artist Artist's Commentary: "This is a gouache painting created in an abstract manner but inspired with sea waves movement and reflections on the sea surface. It is part of the series WAVING. These paintings have a strong emphasis on colour and pattern. For me pattern (ornament) is a way of visual expression of ideas. I am interested in the rhythms of nature which I translate into visual language. Paintings are created with gouache colours on quality thick watercolour paper. Gouache technique is one of my favourites because the colours from different layers slightly mix together which results in rich and interesting colour shades. Thank you for your precious interest." About the Artist: Nives Palmić is a painter and art professor. Her principle as an artist is to achieve uniqueness, not imitate anyone or anything and to be completely honest about his/her work. She rather understand her role as a messenger not just a seller, and see importance of art in communication, to remind people of everything essential for human and in human. BACKGROUND She graduated in painting from the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts. Today she works as art professor on B2 and Gea College schools for adults in Ljubljana. Also run art courses and workshops and works as a mentor and review writer on art exhibitions. Nives is author of very popular practical book »From drawing to painting«, published in 2011. INFLUENCE She adores old cultures art as Mediaeval and Persian miniature painting, and authors from different art history periods. The very first influence was certainly her father who was an amateur painter. And perhaps very big amount of freedom and nature in her childhood. ABOUT WORK In past years she was occupied with abstract painting and also mixed media painting (digital graphics combining classic techniques and computer interventions) and applied arts such as painting and printing on fabric. Last few years the main occupation is drawing. She achieve optimal expression using and mastering classical drawing techniques as graphite pencil, charcoal, pen and ink and pastel. Source of her inspiration are mostly natural forms, fascination with plants, flowers, trees and on the other side ornament as a way of visual expressing of ideas. What makes her work unique is very carefully defined composition where motif vary from image to pattern and offer close look to inner spaces. And qualities of shape, space and light which create special atmosphere. Beside composition there is texture, which is also essential in her drawings, reflecting a character of each motif and adding dimension of sensuality. Her work is developing all the time and reaching for new techniques, approaches and contents, getting more and more appreciation and interest from art lovers over the world. "

    Located in Boston, MA
October (Grid and Flower) 30.0 x 22.5 x 0.03, 0.34 lbs Handmade paper, mixed media Hand signed by artist Artist's Commentary: "Gouache, tempera, and colored pencil on paper From the October Series This series consists of works on paper that I made last October while I was in residence at Penland School of Craft in North Carolina. It was a beautiful time of year and of course I was inspired by the foliage and the leaf color transformation in particular. These drawings/paintings are layered color pencil and paint and there are many layers . These pieces are nature-landscape inspired and the colors create a contrast of vivid pigment with the frosted effect of the paint that is reminiscent of fog in early mornings with the vivid changing colors of the trees." The Toro (or Bull) is a great creature to work with in both in it's inherent physical qualities and room for artistic creativity. Picasso intended to deconstruct the Toro with geometric precision in 1945, taking it from a full animal to a single line drawing...
