About the Item
This painting is me admitting that I’ve lived in the space between growth and sorrow. That I can bloom and break at the same time. That I’ve felt fragile, small, hidden, but still, I remain. Still, I hold myself. Still, I rise again.
When I look at this painting, I see myself. I see the way I fold into myself when the weight of life feels too much to carry out loud. I see how I’ve learned to hold myself together, even in silence, even when no one else knows what I’m holding inside.
The flowers on the green fabric remind me of how I’ve always tried to bloom for others — to give beauty, comfort, and love, even when I was wilting on the inside. I wore my tenderness like a garden, but behind it, I was curled inwards, just trying to keep from breaking apart.
There’s a small smile on the face, and it hurts me because I know that smile so well. It’s the one I give when I don’t want anyone to worry, when I’m falling apart, but I pretend I’m fine. It’s survival, not joy.
The blue surrounding me in this piece feels like an ocean, the ocean I’ve drowned in silently, the one made of unspoken thoughts, heartbreaks, and quiet grief. And yet, even in this ocean, I am still here. Still breathing. Still carrying myself, even if it means holding on with everything I have left.

Artist Statement
In the depths of our being, we often encounter feelings so profound they are too deep to articulate, emotions that swirl like shadows, whispering secrets that linger just beyond the edges of understanding. My work seeks to embrace these complex feelings, giving them a canvas to breathe, shift, and resonate. My paintings generally explore the psychological and emotional aspects of everyday life. As the mind exists without form, the body acts as a window into the mind.
I tried to focus on the not-so-obvious feelings. I want to tell truths that you can see only if you care to look inward and pay attention to the details. The cyclical motifs and fading gradients in my works convey the endless flow of time, where individual lives are fleeting moments in a greater continuum. Life doesn’t wait for you to be alright; it just keeps going like an endless circle.
Each piece I create reflects my journey through the labyrinth of human experience. I explore the beauty and turmoil of emotions that can feel isolating yet are universally shared. With paint, textures, and colours, I invite viewers to confront their depths and recognize that the feelings they carry are valid and significant.
I hope that when you stand before my work, you find a connection that transcends words, a reminder that you are not alone in your struggles and triumphs. These pieces are a testament to resilience, a visual embrace that assures us all that we will be fine in the end. Together, let us navigate the intricacies of our emotions and celebrate the profound strength that comes from vulnerability.

Growing up in a region known for its deep-rooted traditions and artistic heritage, Olumide developed a profound appreciation for the arts, music, and entertainment from an early age. With an educational background in science and a stint in business management and technology, Olumide has successfully merged his entrepreneurial spirit with his passion for creativity. Olumide Ajayi infuses a shade of blue colour into his painting because it reduces the stress he feels from living in his head and the raging conversations that go on in his head all the time.
