About the Item

Painting has always been a part of my life. Over the course of many years I explored various styles of painting. I found that the more I let go and gave into simply the act of painting a brush stroke technique developed. I began painting with small short upward strokes of color next to and on top of each other. This seemed to give the painting a sense of energy whereas with traditional techniques of smudging and mixing flat layers of colors together did not. I am excited to see/experience how I can continue to develop this process in new and creative ways. As I see it, our world is made up of light particles vibrating at various frequencies. These light particle frequencies come together to create color and form. This light is what I paint. The small dots of color that I apply to the canvas represent particles of light coming together. The small specs of unpainted canvas represent the emptiness of space in-which these particles exist. The blurry impressions of some of my paints represents the vibration of these particles of light coming together to create form. About the Artist: "I contemplate every color, mark, and placement of the line to formulate what I call rhythmic velocities: relationships of color and motion that give life to the composition, creating a heartbeat. I am interested in the duality of math and design: through repetition, a line made of color becomes a rhythmic pattern. This concept is found when composing music, organic landscapes and architectural structures.
