About the Item
This is a one of a kind original abstract seascape painting by southern California artist Paul Hobson. It is 12" x 9.75" x 1". It is already framed. A certificate of authenticity will follow delivery.
Artist Statement: “Sails 22” depicts my sailing experiences in Belize and the Western Caribbean.
Paul Hobson began his career as an artist as studio assistant to Bauhaus Master Herbert Bayer. During his tenure there he was responsible for a full range of tasks including: execution of paintings, sculpture, murals, graphic design and environmental artwork. Although there primarily to broaden his skills as a painter Hobson spent much of his time developing drawings and models for his outdoor sculpture and environmental art projects. Since Hobson’s move to San Diego in 1988 he has focused his own efforts on creating art in the public realm while he continues to paint. Currently, he is developing a series of small paintings that celebrate the Fibonacci (Leonardo of Pisa) sequence. Their 5 ¾” square formats are a counterbalance to his large scale public work and the theme of the series references the beauty and order of the progression that Fibonacci introduced to Western European mathematics.
